Mariposa Point Bluff Slide And Trail Closure Update

UPDATE 11/18/2019 5:00pm Mariposa Point Boardwalk Full Closure – Public Safety Notice

Due to landslide activity and structural damage of the bridge, The Beach trail boardwalk between the El Portal steps and Mariposa access will be closed indefinitely. This closure is in the interest of public safety and individuals are advised to not enter the closed area and use the appropriate detour.

Update 11/16/2019 11:30am The beach trail boardwalk between the El portal steps and Mariposa access will be closed indefinitely due to recent landslide activity. Please note that is illegal and unsafe to walk along the railroad tracks. The appropriate detour would be el portal steps to Buena Vista and local streets back to Escalones and Mariposa for trail access'

Please be advised there is an active slide at Mariposa point directly adjacent to and above the beach trail. The Beach Trail boardwalk may be periodically closed for beach trail maintenance activity and for public safety. If barricades are posted at the boardwalk please do not enter the closed area. The public is advised to avoid this section of the beach trail until further notice.
