One night only, Lyn Stanley brings her acclaimed "Some Like It Hot" show from NYC to Laguna Woods one night only for their Clubhouse One Summer Patio Concert Series. The show begins 6 p.m. and tickets may be obtained through residents of the gated community.
Discovered and mentored by Ella Fitzgerald’s revered pianist and arranger Paul Smith, Ms. Stanley recently played NYC to standing ovation and toured Austria for the benefit of her avid audiophile audience.
Once a resident of Laguna Woods, Ms. Stanley brings to her show songs from her successful American jazz standards album, Lost In Romance, and her upcoming album, Potions, a tribute to jazz songs and pop tunes composed in the 1950s. Her band for the Laguna Woods show includes Tateng Katindig (piano), Luther Hughes (bass), Dean Koba (drums), Thom Rotella, (guitar) and Bruce Babad (tenor and alto sax).
In 2010, the year she met Paul Smith, Ms. Stanley was International Champion Amateur Ballroom Pro/Am dancer and won three title events. Ms. Stanley's song arrangements reflect her dance background while her sable-sleek, low, sultry voice has been compared to Peggy Lee and Rosemary Clooney.
Ms Stanley records her albums in LA's Capitol Records’ Studio A with musicians who tour and play for the likes of Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand and Natalie Cole. Ms. Stanley's vinyl recordings and CDs sell out regularly in the US and Europe. Her sound engineer at Capitol is 21-time Grammy winner engineer Al Schmitt who records Paul McCartney and others.
