JUNIOR LIFEGUARD PROGRAM UPDATE

5/19/2020…San Clemente, California… To help protect the health and safety of the public, staff and Junior Lifeguard participants, the City of San Clemente is regretfully cancelling the first two planned sessions of the 2020 Junior Lifeguard Program. The planned third and final 2020 Junior Lifeguard session from July 20 through August 7 is tentative. A decision on that session will be made by mid-June, and will be largely based on when the State is expected to move into Stage 4 of the Pandemic Resilience Roadmap. The City considered potential program modifications that might have allowed the first two Junior Lifeguard sessions to be offered, however these were unrealistic to be able to operate a safe and enjoyable program. These cancellations are consistent with actions by other Orange County and Southern California agencies concerning their Junior Lifeguard programs.
