“The City of San Clemente is excited that SB 760 was passed by such an overwhelmingly large and bipartisan vote. Even as recently as last week, it appeared as though the TCA is still considering building a toll road through protected open space through the City, despite their vote just last year to abandon the expensive and unnecessary toll road,” said Kathy Ward, Mayor of San Clemente. “We look forward to working cooperatively with all of the South Orange County stakeholders to find an acceptable solution to these divisive issues.”

“SB 760 would make sure the TCA can’t go back on its word again,” said Gene James, Mayor Pro Tem of San Clemente. “This bill simply affirms the TCA’s decision, making sure they can’t keep changing their mind and leaving people throughout South Orange County worried about the fate of their health and their open space.”

“SB 760 will bring credibility back to the promises made by our local leaders, currently being demonstrated by the working groups, led by Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett and TCA Chair and Mayor of Yorba Linda Peggy Huang” stated Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel). “I am glad that we are returning to the collaborative transportation planning process that has been the hallmark of South Orange County. I believe the work we are doing will result in the protection of the cities of South Orange County including the City of San Clemente.”
