7/16/2020…San Clemente, California… The City of San Clemente has been informed that SB 1373, authored by Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) and approved by the Senate on a 24-6 vote will not be taken up by the Assembly Transportation Committee due to the truncated legislative session caused by COVID 19. A new version of SB 1373 will be introduced next session.
“The City of San Clemente is disappointed, but understands that in these unprecedented times, not every bill will be able to be heard before the session ends in a few weeks. The City remains committed to making sure that our residents can sleep at night knowing the threat of an unnecessary toll road isn’t hanging over their heads,” said Kathy Ward, San Clemente Councilmember and Foothill Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency Director. “The Orange County Grand Jury Report was clear – the TCA needs to pay off its debt and make our toll roads free like they promised.”

““Although I am disappointed that there is not enough time this session to hear SB 1373, which was passed by a bipartisan majority in the Senate, South Orange County residents can rest assured that I will continue to fight for transportation solutions that benefit our entire region,” stated Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel).
