San Clemente Shooter Arrested on Suspicion of Firing at Parked Cars
Shots were fired in San Clemente near T Street beach on Aug. 31. Orange County Sheriff's Officers arrived to find a suspect with a handgun.
SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Shots were fired yesterday near the San Clemente Pier at just after 12:30 p.m.
A man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of firing at parked vehicles in San Clemente.
Deputies were called about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31 to Esplanade and Calle Conchita, where the suspect was allegedly caught in the act, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Mark Stichter.

28-year-old Elias Banuelos was arrested without incident near the 200 Block of Vista Marina, Stichter said.
"(Banuelos) had a semiautomatic handgun and shot at his own car and another vehicle," Stichter said.

No one was injured in the event. It was not immediately clear why the suspect opened fire on the vehicles, Stichter said.
There was no reason given as to why the shooting occurred. Banuelos has no known outstanding warrants or previous record according to report.
