San Clemente Teen Airlifted with Severe Burns from Cooking Accident

A 15-year-old boy suffered first and second-degree burns when he spilled boiling water on himself while preparing pasta.

A 15-year-old San Clemente boy is recovering today after suffering first-and-second-degree burns on his leg during a cooking accident Tuesday night.

The accident happened at 5 p.m. at the 1900 block of Via Sage, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

β€œHe was cooking some pasta, and when he was moving the pan, somehow it slipped and fell, and the boiling water landed on his right thigh,” said Concialdi. β€œIt was blistering, and he was in excruciating pain.”

Because of the rush hour traffic down the 5 Freeway, the boy was airlifted to the OC Global Medical Center’s burn center.

The helicopter landed at Forster Ranch Community Park next to Truman Benedict Elementary School where paramedics and were waiting with the injured boy.
