SAVE HARBOR PARK!

Make your voice heard if you oppose privatization of this wonderful and much loved community resource!

A few years ago, the administration of the Harbor Park was removed from the County Beaches, Harbors and Parks department and placed under the newly created Harbor Department. Now it appears that the Dana Point Harbor Department is proposing to privatize the buildings in the park for commercial use. Currently the OC Dana Point Harbor Department has a draft RFP (a request for proposals) for management, maintenance and operation of the OCSEC, which it apparently plans to issue very soon. This RFP endangers the use of the base by the non-profit groups that currently use the facility.

If this is allowed to happen, the park would be destroyed and the people of Orange County would lose an important and valuable public asset.

Our goal is to keep the Dana Point Sea Base public and available to Mariners 936 Sea Scouts and all of the non-profit agencies that use the Orange County Sailing and Events Center (OCSEC).

If you have used this area or facility as a Sea Scout, learned to sail with Westwind or spent summers at camp here, or if you are a sailor, paddle boarder, kayaker, outrigger, picnicker, or Baby beach goer this will affect you! Let’s stand together to keep this community resource low cost and accessible to all!

Indications are that this process is moving very quickly and therefore we need to act now.
