SCHS Principal 'Professionally Embarrassed' for Scheduling Snafu
Many students showed up for school this month without full schedules.

EDITOR’S NOTE: When school resumed earlier this month, many students at San Clemente High School were not assigned a full schedule of classes. A parent said to this day, scheduling problems persist for a few students. Patch attempted to get details on the situation, but a Capistrano Unified School District spokesman was unavailable. Below is the letter that went out to parents from Principal Michael Halt.
Dear Parents,
It was great to see nearly 3,100 Tritons come to campus today excited about the new school year. I truly regret – and am professionally embarrassed - that for many of students their excitement for a new school year turned to frustrations due to an unforeseen scheduling error that occurred last night.

There is no excuse for having so many students start the new school year with incomplete schedules. Last night when we uploaded the student schedules to parent portal an error was made and many of the changes that had been made since registration were lost. To make matters worse we did not catch the error until this morning and by then we were ill equipped to best respond. As a result of these errors, many students stood in line for long time waiting to see their Academic Advisors. Sadly, there were students that left campus today with schedules that have still not been adjusted. We will address them tomorrow as expediently as possible.
To ensure that tomorrow goes better than today, I have asked the District Office to have additional support provided to our school so that we can properly address the problem. Please know that we will endeavor to correct the mistakes we made and regain your trust.

Please extend my deepest apologies to your children.
