Shorecliff Golf Club Faces Bar Stool Lawsuit
Plaintiff says she sustained major physical injury falling off a stool at Shorecliff Golf Club cocktail lounge.
A day at the Shorecliff Golf Club took a turn for the worse when Charlene Marlow allegedly fell off of her bar stool and struck her head on the floor, according to a lawsuit filed last month in Orange County Superior Court.
"You can walk on up just as I did," the plaintiff's attorney, Theodore S. Wentworth, said about the scene of the alleged incident. "You don't have to be a member. You can just sit down in the cocktail lounge and have drink."
Marlow alleges she fell off her bar stool April 27, 2010, and struck her head, causing "permanent, severe injuries," according to the civil complaint.

Marlow contends in the suit that the "bar stool or chair collapsed because of the loosened or missing screw that should have been installed on one of the legs of the chair."
Since the alleged incident, according to the suit, Marlow has needed "the services of hospitals, physicians, surgeons, nurses and other professional services."

When the office for attorney George Muhar, who is representing the golf club was reached, they chose not to comment on the pending suit.
Marlow is seeking unspecified damages, plus medical costs and court costs, according to the suit.
"The bar seats were aging badly," Wentworth said. "They were four feet off the ground."
When the legs on the chair gave way, it caused the plaintiff to drop, striking her head, Wentworth said.
