SONIC SAN CLEMENTE: Dude, Where Are The Shys?

I can’t believe my glaring Sonic oversight in going so long with Sonic San Clemente and not mentioning The Shys.

This gritty alt-rock/garage band has its roots in town and has achieved a certain level of nationwide fame (although you might not have heard of the group if you were from, say, Ohio.)

Hey, the Shys a bio entry on MTV's website, which is more than I can say for my short-lived college bar band. The group also had a song featured on the hit HBO series Entourage.

And you know what? The Shys are really good. Unfortunately, I can’t find any tour dates for these guys and their website has been taken down (although their MySpace page is still up). I’m worrying that they've broken up or stopped performing.

I found kyle*krone26 on eBay selling a rare signed Shys poster from a Halloween Show at the Anaheim House of Blues in 2009. Kyle Krone is The Shys’ vocalist and guitarist.

I looked at the group's record label’s site, which lists its latest album as “She’s Already Gone,” but no show dates.

This song is called “Savior,” and it was released a couple years ago.
