Sounds Of Freedom: Camp Pendleton Noise Advisory

Camp Pendleton announced a noise advisory in the Whiskey Zulu area, according to reports.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A noise advisory has been released for Camp Pendleton until February 16, according to a recent press release.

"The Marines will conduct an exercise that involves the detonation of Mine Clearing Line Charges," they stated over facebook.

The charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 explosives, used to create a breach in minefields under combat situations, the Marines said.

"Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away," they said.

The Whiskey impact area is roughly 5.5 miles from San Clemente, and the Zulu impact area is 8.4 miles from San Clemente.
