SURF REPORT: Friday Waves Step It Up After a Lull

Surfers will see an increase in the action.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report. Well, if you happen to be starting your long holiday weekend a little early, then go grab a session.

Yep, we're seeing an increase in the action, with some playful size surf out there!

The conditions are clean and glassy early on, with a combination of mostly new northwest swell and not a lot of south southwest energy to speak of. That recipe is making for some crumbly, broken-up lines, with some nice steep sections.

Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to chest-high, with better combo breaks seeing an occasional plus set.

Taking a look at the tides: At 6:59 this morning it pushed up to a 3.3 high and then drops to a 1.6 low at 12:18 this afternoon and then climbs up once again to a 5.0 high at 6:52 this evening.

If you're planning on paddling, a 3/2 fullsuit is more than enough for that a.m session, with the water temperature averaging between a nice 64 and 66 degrees.

Have fun out there!!
