Volunteers pack 12,000 meals in two hours for Kids Around the World

Serving locally, impacting globally to help feed Kids Around the World

On Saturday, June 13th over 120 volunteers from the San Clemente Rotary clubs, the Community Resource Center of San Clemente, San Clemente Presbyterian Church, the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area, local churches and community members packaged over 12,000 meals in under two hours for distribution to children in need around the world at the San Clemente Presbyterian Church. The meals packaged are slated to be delivered to Africa this summer.

The community service event brought several families from three different generations and various cultures together to assemble meals to feed hungry children around the globe. The oldest volunteer was 92 and the youngest was 4 years old.

Several San Clemente City Council members past and present were volunteers at the event.

Volunteers wrote special messages on the boxes for the children who will be enjoying these meals made with love.

Earlier in June, the City of San Clemente honored San Clemente Rotary Club President- Bill Ewing and Sunrise Rotary Club President, Micheal Studenka with a special city “Rotary Day” proclamation to acknowledge the organizations efforts and to highlight the June 13th meal packing event coordinated by the San Clemente Rotary and the Community Resource Center of San Clemente to benefit the Kids Around the World charity.

The Rotary Club of San Clemente (noon and sunrise) are two of over 34,000 Rotary International Clubs worldwide in 200 countries.

These award-winning service clubs have won District and International
recognition for programs where members pledge themselves for “service over self.”
