Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition Awards V and T Ballet Outstanding School and Choreographer

V & T Classical Ballet and Dance Academy participated at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix regional competitions in San Diego and Las Vegas in January and February. YAGP is the world’s largest global network of dance. It fulfills its mission of dance education through scholarship auditions, master classes, alumni services, educational and outreach activities, performances, and films.

V & T was awarded the Outstanding School Award and Asuka Kondoh received Outstanding Choreographer for the second year in a row. V & T performance pieces placed 1st in both classical and contemporary pieces; 2nd in large ensemble “Unusual Proportions” and Pas de Deux “Unrequited” and “Giselle” at the 2016 YAGP regional competitions in San Diego and Las Vegas. Four soloists along with three ensemble pieces were invited to the New York international finals that will take place the week of April 22nd, 2016 to compete with schools from more than 30 countries. The unique V & T large ensemble piece, “Unusual Proportions”, is performed by 22 dancers who have their faces and eyes completely covered throughout the entire performance.

YAGP reaches over 7,000 dance students annually by holding workshops, scholarship auditions, master classes and audition classes in approximately 17 U.S cities and 6 international locations. Each season culminates in the week-long New York Finals, where more than 1,200 of the world’s most promising dancers receive in-depth mentoring and greater scholarship, professional, and performance opportunities.

In 2015, V & T’s contemporary ensemble piece “Conjurer”, placed in the top 12 internationally and Madeline Woo placed top 12 in the senior division internationally at the 2015 YAGP competition. Woo is currently fulfilling a scholarship at one of the most renowned ballet schools in the world, the John Cranko School, the official school of Stuttgart Ballet in Germany.

V & T Dance Academy, started in 2008, is owned by Victor and Tatiana Kasatsky. They are the recipients of the Teacher Recognition Certificate from the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts. They have also won numerous Outstanding School and Outstanding Teacher awards at the regional YAGP competitions. The V & T students have been the recipients of many international scholarships from prestigious dance schools around the world. Several alumni currently dance professionally with ballet companies around the world.
