At the April 19, 2017 BOT meeting during Trustee comments, Trustee Lynn Hatton- Hodson directed Staff to look into Board Policy 9323 Bylaws of the Board MEETING CONDUCT as it applies to the BLUE CARDS and the law as it pertains to the amount of time a speaker has, as well as how other districts handle a single speaker. CUSD Current Policy regarding Items on the Consent Calendar:

CONSENT CALENDAR: These Items are NOT DISCUSSED unless the Item is pulled by Staff, Board or Public.
"All matters listed under the Consent Calendar are considered by the Board to be routine and will be enacted by the Board in one motion in the form listed below. There will be no discussion of these items prior to the time the Board votes on the motion unless members of the Board, staff, or the public request specific items to be discussed and/or removed from the Consent Calendar. The Superintendent and the staff recommend approval of all Consent Calendar items."
Example of an Item that Should NEVER have been placed on a Consent Calendar.
CUSD put the $33.86 million dollar purchase of the 14 acre Esencia K-8 school site on their Consent Calendar without a price. Members of the Public had to request that the Item be amended to reflect the purchase price ($33.86 million- $2.4 million an acre for raw land with no entitlements). Builders were paying $21 million ... $1.5 million per acre with entitlements to build 100 homes.
If the District's new policy is approved at a future meeting. The Public will no longer be able to PULL Items off the Consent Calendar. It will be passed without Discussion unless Staff or the Board pulls the Item.
Trustee Lynn Hatton-Hodson announced her resignation effective June 2, 2017
