SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Mission San Juan Capistrano will display historic sacramental registers written in 1776 as part of its ongoing Artifact of the Month program beginning Tuesday.
The registers will be on view through Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Mission Treasures Exhibit.
The display is part of a yearlong exhibition organized by the Mission Preservation Foundation to commemorate the mission's 250th anniversary, which falls on Sunday.
Throughout 2026, the program has highlighted objects from the mission's archives, including rare books, historical documents and other artifacts that are not regularly displayed to the public.
The November exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to view records dating to the year the mission was founded.
The new display follows October's featured exhibit of Acjachemen baskets from the early 1900s, which remains on view through Sunday.
The mission is generally open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.
