Amtrak Train Collides with Car in San Juan Capistrano
On Saturday, Aug. 6 an Amtrak train struck a vehicle in San Juan Capistrano near Camino Capistrano according to Orange County Fire Authority

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CAβ A car was hit by an Amtrak train on Saturday in San Juan Capistrano, according to authorities.
The collision took place about 2:30 p.m. in the 29000 block of Camino Capistrano, according to Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Capt. Tony Bommarito.
Three years ago,a truck was struck by an Amtrack train in approximately the same location.

There were no injuries in the car or the train and no one was transported to a hospital, Bommarito said.
Orange County sheriff's Lt. M. Kiernan told the Orange County Register that a Chevrolet Cruze stopped at a red light but became stuck on the tracks because another vehicle was stopped in front of it.

The Amtrak train hit the rear of the car, according to Kiernan. The tracks were temporarily closed between San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel because of the crash, according to Metrolink.
