
The Capistrano Historical Alliance Committe's Board of Directors is pleased to introduce itself to the community of San Juan Capistrano.
The alliance formed in the wake of a moratorium on burials at the historic cemetery at Mission San Juan Capistrano in the spring of 2010. Upon hearing of the moratorium at the cemetery and then organizing a rally in front of the mission in May 2010, the alliance's members chose to move into action by instigating positive, productive dialogue with the press, diocese of Orange, interested community leaders and historic families to improve conditions at the cemetery, in hopes that the moratorium would eventually lifted—which it was.
The alliance membership is proud that seven of its eight directors have historic family ties to the town and its history, some linked to pre-.

The organization, though young, is strong, committed and supported. As it moves forward with a united voice, it will be closely watching what appears to be an apparent disregard and lack of attention towards the historic elements that make up this community. In fact, our mission statement reads: "With integrity, the Capistrano Historical Alliance Committee proudly recognizes, respects and honors all the historical elements of San Juan Capistrano—its land, its structures, its families and its traditions."
