Assistance League Awarded 15K During 40th Anniversary

The Assistance League of Capistrano Valley will put the money toward meeting the needs of local children and families.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — The table is set, the cake is frosted — and the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley was ready to receive their $15,000 birthday present. The Rainbow Sandals Foundation gifted the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley with a the large check during the league's 40th anniversary celebration Sept. 20, giving the nonprofit about 15,000 more reasons to celebrate.

"We are thankful and honored that Rainbow Sandals selected to support our organization," President of Assistance League of Capistrano Valley Joyce Helland said in a statement, "Donations like these are critical for funding our philanthropies. Our 200 volunteers are committed to meeting the needs of local children and families."

According to the statement, the donation will affirm the funding of the six philanthropies maintained by the league. These six philanthropies go toward supporting children of the Capistrano Unified School District as well as military families of Camp Pendleton through grants, scholarships, books and clothing.

Last year, the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley returned over $101,000 back to the community. Since its formation in 1980, $5.3 million has been returned to the Capistrano Valley.
