ORANGE COUNTY, CA β€”It wasn't the story she planned, but this mom is forever grateful to the Orange County Fire Authority medics who came to her aid. Reality star Jade Roper, who has documented her pregnancy over social media, went into hard labor at home on Tuesday. Being her second child and labor, she knew there was no way she would make it to the hospital.

Medics arrived to find Roper inside her bedroom closet, in distress. In her own words, she gave birth while "clutching a bench" in her closet. Just 75 minutes after her water broke, she was holding her healthy baby boy, at home.

"It was one of the scariest moments of my life because I felt so out of control," she wrote.

Her husband, mother, mother-in-law, and the medics and firefighters all kept her going "when I felt like the world was caving in on my unborn baby and me," she said in her announcement.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Jon Muir expressed the department's joy at helping to deliver a newborn into the world.

"So many calls we go to end in tragedy, so when we respond to a delivery in the field, these calls are happy and cherishing moments, both as first responders, and for the parents," Muir said. "We sincerely wish Jade and Tanner Roper the best."

It wasn't the Instagram moment of her dreams, but she said it just "felt right" to share her baby's birth story with the world.

"I've been still processing the shock of this all, as this was not at all what I planned," she wrote on social media. "I'm so thankful for each person who helped bring our son into the world safely."
