Do you remember way back when before the “information superhighway” was part of our everyday lives? Before you could “Google it” or “ask Jeeves”? Believe it or not, it was not that long ago.
The Internet and most importantly the World Wide Web have completely changed our lives–mostly in good ways although a few poor saps like Congressman Wiener might disagree. Now the amount of information that is now just a few key strokes away is truly mind-boggling! More than we could ever get to in our lifetime.
Part of the fun of the Internet is that it not only allows us access to information but it allows us to put out information as well. You don’t even need your own website anymore with programs like Facebook, Twitter, and all the other social media … anyone can have their very own space. And with free blogging sites everywhere, you too can have a forum.

But have you ever wondered how and when the blog evolved? Well I did so I “Googled it” and found this on Wikipedia:
“Blog is short for "web-log" which is an online journal or newsletter that is updated frequently and is posted on a website for people to read. The word blog is actually just short for web-log, which can literally be defined as a place on the Internet where you can keep "logs" or updates of your daily happenings. A web log can literally be defined as a place on the internet where you can keep logs/tabs of daily happenings.
The term 'Blog' is the evolved term coined by Peter Merholz in 1999. It's not an acronym...it's a colloquialism. It comes from the conjoined terms web and log...as in weblog. Then it evolved into simply blog when Peter Merholz coined the term in 1999.”
