Wildfire Blazes Above San Juan Creek Golf Course after Fireworks Call
A late night, fast moving brushfire blazed above the San Juan Creek Golf Course Saturday night after fireworks were reported in the area.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA โ A late night fire broke out Saturday night according to OCFA Capt. Stephen Horner. The fire began at approximately 9:30 p.m. shortly after a report of fireworks.
"The fire began just above San Juan Creek golf course, just after a call regarding fireworks in the area," he said. "Approximately one acre has burned up to the ridge top in medium to heavy brush and it is not close to any homes."
The fire slowed down once it reached the ridge, according to Horner.

There are approximately 23 fire units from OCFA along with hand crews that are battling the brush fire.
A helicopter from OCFA making drops and there is also helicopter from OCSD working the scene according to Horner.

"It hooked but we are getting around the right flank," he said.
No known cause for the fire at this time, however the original call came in as "fireworks in the area," Horner said. Investigators are on scene.
Fireworks, on a weekend with extremely high fire danger, should be prohibited according to Horner.
"When there are extreme fire dangers in the area, the OCFA reminds no fireworks should be allowed in area near the brush," he said.
