Brush Fire Blackens 10 Acres in Rancho Mission Viejo
See smoke near San Juan Capistrano today? The Orange County Fire Authority reported a brush fire in the Rancho Mission Viejo area.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA ā A brush fire broke out at a Rancho Mission Viejo construction site today, blackening about three acres, but no structures were threatened.
10 acres burned, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz. The fire was brought under control within an hour.
The non-injury blaze started for unknown reasons about 1:50 p.m. in the unincorporated community at Cow Camp Road and Antonio Parkway It was contained as of 3:15 p.m., Kurtz said. Investigators are researching the cause of the blaze.

This burn area, in the location of Rancho Mission Viejo, is near an expanding housing development. The burn area was mostly dry brush.

Nothing had been built yet on the site, Kurtz said.
