Dear CUSD Families,

Yesterday, Governor Newsom and State Superintendent Thurmond stated that school districts should plan as if distance learning will continue through the end of the school term. Governor Newsom was clear in that while our actual school buildings are closed, school districts should continue educating young people and accelerate efforts to ensure students receive a great education through distance learning, through the remainder of the year.
In an effort to assist our students, families, teachers, staff, and administrators in preparing for the end of the school year, we have made the decision that CUSD Distance Learning will continue until further notice. While our hope is to return to classrooms before our last day of school, this may not be realistic given the current environment, and the likelihood diminishes with each passing day.

The District recognizes there are many pressing questions that we must consider and plan for as if we are not returning to school sites, such as graduation ceremonies, student assessments, and grading policies (to name just a few).
On April 15, 2020, our Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting to discuss revisions to the calendar and consider additional policy decisions. The Board meeting will be live-streamed and we will provide additional information as we move closer to the date of the meeting.
We hope you are staying happy, healthy, and at home.
Thank you,
Ryan Burris
