Students requesting this change will be returned to their school of residence if space allows.

Dear CUSD Elementary Families,

CUSD’s long-term plan is to get students back to school days that are as close to normal as possible, when it is safe to do so. Today we want to continue the process of program registration for our families, so that when on-campus instruction can resume, we are prepared to open school with the options that our families have chosen.

- The deadline for registering for your program option is Friday, July 31, 2020.
For Families That Already Completed the Early Registration Process
- If you previously registered your student(s) for the 2020-21 options and you are satisfied with your selection, you do not need to do anything.
- If you previously registered your student(s) for the 2020-2021 options and you would like to change your selection, you may do so by reviewing your selection and making changes through your Parent Portal Account. Instructions for making your selection using your Parent Portal are below and can be found here. You may also select new options by following the links below to the K-5 or Secondary Early Registration Google form, on or before July 31st.
Grades K-5: Please choose one of three programs:
Click here to select: Elementary Early Registration Grades K-5
Elementary Program A: 100% In person learning (temporarily online until we can re-open)
- Instructor-led
- Instructor focus on literacy and math
- Taught by classroom teacher working with a single grade level
- Includes extended learning block that includes music, PE, arts and lessons that support core standards
- Includes live lessons
- Teacher paced
- Instruction is conducted virtually, adhering to normal school schedule
- Students are on the computer with their teacher during the normal class time
- Daily attendance checks and live instruction
- Will continue until campuses are allowed to open and “in person” learning is allowed with masking and minimal distancing restrictions
Elementary Program B: 50% in person (temporarily online until we can re-open)
- Instructor-led
- Instructor focus on literacy and math
- Taught by classroom teacher working with a single grade level
- Includes live lessons
- Teacher paced - daily schedule (day by day)
- Instruction is conducted virtually, adhering to normal school schedule
- Students are on the computer with their teacher during the normal class time
- Daily attendance checks and live instruction
- Will continue until campuses are allowed to open and “in person” learning is allowed with masking and minimal distancing restrictions
Elementary Program C: 100% Online
- Independent Learning with Instructor Support
- Taught by credentialed teacher working with students in multiple grade levels or subjects within a content area; may include different cohorts in one school or in multiple schools, depending upon enrollment
- Teacher paced - weekly schedule (week by week)
- Instruction is not provided directly by the teacher. It is built into the online curriculum.
- Weekly one hour check-ins with teacher
- Will remain the student’s option all year unless parent makes a change at the trimester
Families Who Would Like to Change Their Program Option
Changing Programs During the School Year:
- Families that wish to change their program during the school year from 100% online to an on-campus learning program, may do so only during specific times during the school year:
- For grades K-5: at the change of trimester (November 2020, February 2021)
- Any family that wishes to change from 100% online to on-campus learning must contact their school directly. Note that changes from 100% online to on-campus may not always be possible at the student’s school of residence. Students requesting this change will be returned to their school of residence if space allows, or will have the option of attending a different school for on-campus learning.
- Any family that wishes to change from on-campus learning to 100% online, due to household health or personal reasons, may do so throughout the school year and not only at the specific time periods listed above. Please contact your school if you are considering a change to 100% online during the school year.
