CUSD's $700,000 Tax on Citizens
Relying on fundraising and donations to pay for core educational programs- one time money to fund on-going expenses

The 2019-20 California Budget includes total funding of $103.4 billion ($58.8 billion General Fund and $44.6 billion other funds) for all K-12 education programs. Despite record high education revenuues for schools, CUSD taxpayers are forced to fundraise for core educational programs.

90% of CUSD's Budget goes to employee Salaries Pensions and Benefits. Employees have received 5 consecutive years of across the board compensation increases totaling over $150 million. They have been allowed to do that thanks to the generous donations of parents and taxpayers.

Here is Superintendent Kristen Vital telling the San Clemente PTA that without a bond on top of $700,000 in fundraising) there would be no money to fix and maintain CUSD schools.

Kristen Vital's total pay and benefits were $419,971 as of 2017. She has received a compensation increase every year for the last five years.
