This is a District that relies on fundraising and donations to pay for core educational programs like art, music, and science.

90% of this Districts budget goes to employee compensation. With the cost of CalSTRSand CalPERS increasing to 11% of the Districts budget, employee compensation will be over 100% of CUSD's total budget.

Our students are entitled to a DISTRICT FUNDED minimum curriculum.

Our students are entitled to attend school in facilities that are safe and properly maintained.

It is outrageous that CUSD will for the 5th consecutive year put the financial interest of employees above the educational interest of students.

And it is unconscionable that CUSD will now ask for a bond to fix the facilities that they chose to ignore for the past 15 years.

It is the time of Local Control.

It is the time to bring control of our curriculum and facilities back to the local level where the most interested parties can ensure that ALL students get the quality of education that they are fundamentally entitled to.
