Text Kills Presents the "Rock The Mission" Benefit Concert

The Community Outreach Organization Will Bring its Unique Brand of Education and Entertainment to Raise Awareness about Distracted Driving and Cyber-bullying

Text Kills®, a community outreach organization that since 2010 has traveled the country to spread awareness about the dangers and hazards of distracted driving and cyber-bullying, is pleased to present the first annual Rock The Mission Benefit Concert at the Historic Town Center Park in San Juan Capistrano. The teen concert and awareness event, which will be held Saturday, April 27 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., will raise proceeds for Mission Hospital's Regional Trauma Center and the Neurological Spinal Floor. In addition to performances by five local bands, there will be food vendors, educational booths, and activities throughout the day.

Text Kills is no stranger to community events or teen concerts. The donation-supported organization recently participated in El Toro High School's "What If...?" Week, which sought to promote positive attitudes, decision making, and lifestyle choices amongst students. See video to learn more.

The group is also responsible for the much publicized K-JAM Concert series. The original K-JAM event was held this past November at the Kaleidoscope center in Mission Viejo and was quickly followed with the K-JAM Wild Hearts concert in February. Two of the bands on the Rock The Mission lineup, Juicebox Bandits and Ugly Paint, were also featured at the K-JAM concerts.

"We are really excited to be a part of the Rock The Mission Event," commented Wayne Irving, Founder of Text Kills. "It has been our experience that entertainment is a great way of raising awareness about important issues and helping important causes. People, especially youth, respond really well to live music, and we're sure this will be a really positive experience for everyone in attendance."

Text Kills will be encouraging people sign the Text Kills Bus and take the pledge to not text and drive and not to use text messages to bully, which over 75,000 people have already done. Attendees will also be able to try a texting and driving simulator and get their picture taken with Swerve, the Text Kills Gorilla. Additionally, Text Kills will be showcasing the Drive Reply® Smartphone application by Iconosys, Inc., which was one of the first technologies on the market specifically designed to combat texting while driving. After being installed on a user's Smartphone, DriveReply® is automatically activated at a certain speed and responds to incoming text messages for the user, so that the user is free to focus on driving.

The event will be held Saturday, April 27 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the San Juan Historic Town Center Park in San Juan Capistrano, California. Featured bands are Juicebox Bandits, A Asteroid, Shoot Up The Cat, March To The Sea, and Ugly Paint. Tickets cost $5 for presale and $7 at the door. Additional sponsors include Zen Dojos Martial Arts Academy, Relay For Life, America On Track, and the Boys And Girls Club. For more information on the event or to get presale tickets, check out the "Rock The Mission 2013" event page on Facebook.

About Text Kills®:

Text Kills® is a donation-supported outreach program that regularly partners with law enforcement, fire/safety authorities, schools, other non-profits, community outreach programs, and corporate safety officers in an effort to educate and increase public awareness concerning the dangers of cell phone use while driving or when used to bully and harass (text-bullying and cyber-bullying). Text Kills works with Bully Buster USA™ in community outreach and safety awareness, dedicated to educating the public about the deadly issues of distracted driving and text-bullying.  To help spread the Text Kills' message of driver safety and responsibility, the Text Kills Tour Bus traverses the country, collecting signatures on its sides from people pledging not to text and drive.
