Field of Honor to Recognize Military Heroes, Vets and First Responders

Mission San Juan Capistrano and Homefront America Present Field of Honor® Over Memorial Day Weekend

San Juan Capistrano-based nonprofits Mission San Juan Capistrano and Homefront America will continue their partnership in hosting the 2022 Field of Honor® to honor military heroes, veterans and first responders in conjunction with Memorial Day.

Beginning Tuesday, May 24 through Monday, May 30, hundreds of seven-foot community-sponsored American flags will be strategically placed on the sacred grounds of Mission San Juan Capistrano with descriptions of each individual honored. All military members, veterans, first responders, flag sponsors and Mission Preservation Society members will receive complimentary admission to the Mission throughout the exhibit.

“Mission San Juan is proud to continue our partnership with Homefront America in transforming the Mission grounds into an awe-inspiring display of more than 400 American flags, each standing seven-feet tall in solemn formation, waving proudly and magnificently in honor of military, veterans, first responders,” said Mission San Juan Capistrano Executive Director Mechelle Lawrence Adams.

Field of Honor® will be displayed during Mission San Juan’s normal operating hours and regular admission pricing will be in effect. The Mission will be open on Memorial Day, May 30 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in honor of this special event.

Individual flags can be sponsored to honor a specific military member, veteran and/or first responder. Sponsorships begin at $50 per flag with all proceeds benefiting Homefront America’s charitable programs for military families. The $50 sponsor level includes an individual membership to Mission San Juan Capistrano’s Preservation Society and benefits increase with various levels up to $1000.
