July 4th Fireworks Still A Go In San Juan Capistrano 2020
SJC is among only a few Fourth of July fireworks shows proceeding in Orange County, as more planned displays dropped out this week.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA —Independence Day events across the country will not look the same this year, thanks to the coronavirus. Most Orange County cities and organizations decided to cancel Fourth of July events. One of the few fireworks extravaganzas still on tap is in San Juan Capistrano — although the show is different than in past years.
Parking now is sold out for the drive-in event at the Sports Park, and residents are invited to tune in to the livestream.
A week or so ago, a smattering of Fourth of July fireworks were set to proceed in O.C., however, those dwindled even further within the past few days as more cities announced cancellations.

Citing health, safety and mass-gathering concerns, officials this week with La Habra, Dana Point, Mission Viejo and Tustin pulled the plug on their planned displays. As of now, O.C. shows still scheduled, along with SJC's, include: San Clemente; and Los Alamitos — and those also come with viewing restrictions.
A few towns in Riverside and San Diego counties still have shows scheduled, while in nearby L.A., the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recently nixed live fireworks shows countywide. Cancellations also were announced this week in Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead.

In Orange County, though, the patriotic spirit will go on as several communities are getting creative with home-decorating contests, aerial flyovers, online activities or virtual fireworks and concerts.
