Former SJC Top Planner Now at Lake Elsinore

Grant Taylor finds a similar position in his hometown.

Grant Taylor, who disappeared as San Juan Capistrano’s top planner in late April, has popped up in a similar position in his home town of Lake Elsinore.

Taylor, started with the city on May 13 and will manage the overall operation of the  Community Development Department, including planning, building and safety, and code enforcement, according to a news release from the city. He will also play a critical role on the city’s economic development team. 

“We were very fortunate to find local, well-qualified professionals who are eager to join our team and passionate about our community,” Lake Elsinore Mayor Bob Magee said.

Including his service to San Juan Capistrano, Taylor has more than 27 years of municipal experience. Prior to his public sector career, he was drafted by and played basketball for the Portland Trailblazers. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, the news release stated.

The director of community development position has been vacant for more than two years.
