Free, Family-Friendly, Behind-the-Scenes at the Stables Event
Join a family-friendly guided visit to the stables to celebrate National Parents Day on Sunday, July 26th. Meet horses large and small!
In celebration of National Parents Day, join a free, family-friendly, behind-the-scenes at the stable tour on Sunday, July 26, from 3-5 p.m. at two San Juan Capistrano stables. No horse experience necessary.
Our goal is to make the wonderful world of horses accessible to everyone including families,β says tour organizer Lori Savit. βYou donβt have to be a rider to enjoy the beauty and power of the horse, the harmony of horse and rider and the excitement of horse sports.β
Attendees will be greeted at the stable by a group of equines large and small. Among the equine greeters will be Luke, a Percheron draft horse owned by Debbie Williams weighing over 1,800 pounds and Linda Camisascaβs personable miniature horse, Mini Cooper, who is small enough to ride in the backseat of a crew cab truck (but probably not the backseat of a Mini Cooper hardtop).

Walking through the rustic atmosphere of Sycamore Trails Stable will bring the tour to an insiderβs view of classical horse training with Wilma Blakely, a United States Dressage Federation Gold Medalist and Trainer. Assisting in the dressage demonstration will be Zena Cooper, who is the owner of North Night Sport Horses in San Juan Capistrano. Cooper will be riding Damien, her award-winning Hanoverian horse whom she bred herself.
There will also be a performance by the young stars of the Bridges Pony Club. The tour will conclude with a demonstration by the high flying hunter/jumper riders led by top trainer John Berney at his new facilities at the neighboring Rio Vista Stables.
