According to the corporate website, the company has been “spooning” since 1983, when the first outlet, in Tustin, was christened “Golden Spoon.” But the beginnings really started in the same location when it was known as “Yogurt and Things.”

The yogurt has since left the “things” long in the dust.

By 2008, the list of offerings had “grown to more than 80 flavors with the additional of record-setting flavors like cake batter, orange 50/50, pumpkin pie and chocolate malt,” according to the corporate website.

Golden Spoon, a more traditional shop where you place an order from behind the corner, outlived the trendier, self-serve Mojo Yogurt, which used to be across the street.
