Community Corner

HeartChase San Clemente

The American Heart Association will be hosting the inaugural HeartChase San Clemente event on Saturday, June 29th @ San Clemente Presbyterian Church from 9am-12pm. The event will provide a fun, new way to promote heart healthy living and will support the American Heart Association. WHAT IS HEART CHASE? HeartChase San Clemente is a community event that involves teams of 2-5 players who take part in a “race” to complete heart healthy challenges, solve puzzles, uncover clues and collect as many points as possible. The event has around-town excitement similar to TV shows like “The Amazing Race” and “Minute to Win it”. Meet Season 5 winners of the "Amazing Race" at the HeartChase San Clemente event . When you combine awesome games, friendly competition, and a very important mission, you've got great fun with a purpose. Just in case you were wondering… you don’t have to be a marathon runner or in triathlete shape to compete in the race or in the challenges. WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN HEART CHASE SAN CLEMENTE? Cardiovascular disease and stroke are our nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers. Much of these problems can be reduced or even eliminated with healthy living, exercise and healthy eating habits. The American Heart Association wants to spread the mission to San Clemente via the HeartChase event and save more lives. No one gets healthy by accident, so get involved and be part of a healthy solution. Join a HeartChase team today! HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE? Registration is $50 per person and this can be a personal donation, or you have the opportunity to create your own fundraising page and send emails to friends and family asking for donations. Even if you are unable to attend, you can still contribute to a team or fundraise for those close to you who have been affected by heart disease or stroke. Each HeartChase San Clemente member receives a tee-shirt and his/her own fundraising site. HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? To get involved or learn more about the event, visit www.heartchasesanclemente.org or contact Megan Millar at megan.millar@heart.org
