Juan the Zoomars Dino Sent Packing

Workers took Juan, the controversial Zoomars Petting Zoo dinosaur statue apart Tuesday, preparing him for a trip east to Arizona.

"I can't watch," said Zoomars owner Carolyn Franks. She gathered pieces as keepsakes.

Franks had come before the San Juan Capistrano Planning Commission and City Council several times, seeking permission to keep the Apatosaurus statue, which first arrived last June, but ultimately, he was sent packing.

Juan now heads to the Grand Canyon Caverns in Arizona. Workers were in town Tuesday, overseeing his preparations for travel.
