La Pata Construction Continues in San Clemente
The La Pata Expansion, named for connecting communities, has a bit more work to be done according to the OC Public Works.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Though the La Pata Expansion is open, work continues and traffic stoppages south of Ortega Highway are going to be the norm through November according to a recent release.
Orange County Public Works contractor crews will continue working on the La Pata Expansion in October, through mid-November according to recent release.
"Starting Monday, Oct. 3 through mid-November, temporary traffic stoppages will occur, each approximately 5 minutes in duration," OC Public Works stated in release.

The temporary traffic stoppages will occur at a specific location on La Pata Ave. in order to allow large, heavy equipment and project vehicles to safely cross La Pata Avenue for access to project sites. The location is 1,000 feet south of the Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano.
"Temporary traffic lights are being installed in this specific location to alert drivers to stop and to ensure the safety of the public and project crews," the release said. "Traffic will be intermittently stopped and will be relieved as needed to accommodate traffic stacking."

These brief traffic stoppages will be active through the middle of November.
"Please consider using alternate routes whenever possible," OC Public Works said.
According to the public works department, the stoppages will not take place during San Juan Hills High School drop off or pick up times, during weekdays.
Additional, future traffic stoppage areas will be released at other locations along La Pata Avenue as work continues.
