Clare
Lewis has been a resident of San Juan Capistrano since 1997 and truly
lived a beautiful long life. Clare passed away peacefully in her home
0n December 17, 2016. She had endured complications of a rare condition: CorticolBasal Degeneration for the past 10 years. Eleanor Clare Driggers was born in Columbia, South Carolina, the only child of
Eleanor & Harry Driggers, she was educated in the Ursuline Convent,
and became President of the Catholic Youth Council. Clare went on to
become Mardi Gras Queen, May Queen, and later became the president of
her Sorority Delta Zeta while attending University of South Carolina
where she graduated with a degree in Music. She married the love of her life Orin Lewis in 1947, and they made their home in Highland, CA where they opened and owned a successful furniture
store for 40 years. She remained very active in the Local Catholic
Church while raising her 2 children, her oldest-daughter Mary Melinda
Lewis (Lindy) of Arizona, and Son Michael W. Lewis, of Capistrano Beach,
CA. Clare was adored by her daughter in Law of 36 yrs. Shelli Lewis,
wife of Michael. Clare’s most beloved role came as Grandmother, Nana, Nani to her 3 Grandsons;
Christopher M. Lewis, Ryan P. Lewis, Corbin J. Lewis whom loved &
worshiped her. Clare was then blessed with her 1st Great-Grandson in 2015 Cayden Lewis; 1st child of Christopher and Chara Lewis of Owings Mills, MD Followed in 2016, her 2nd Great- Grandson Kendrick Lewis,1st child of Corbin & Sara Lewis of Irvine, CA.

Clare’s’ life was filled with many friends who loved her, and was blessed with
special caregivers. She also embraced the Saleh family their children
& Grandchildren which was a true testament to how much love she had
to give and offered it freely.
A service will be held on Jan. 6, 2017
1:00pm at St. Edwards the confessor, Catholic Church 33926 Calle La Primavera, Dana Point, CA, 92629
