Man Confronts Armed Woman in the Middle of Car Break-In

Police are looking for a gun-wielding car burglar who threatened to kill a man who caught her red-handed in San Juan Capistrano.

A woman who broke into a man’s car in San Juan Capistrano and was stealing items from inside pointed a handgun at the vehicle owner and threatened to shoot him when he confronted her this morning, authorities said.

The victim found the woman about 5:45 a.m. in the driver’s seat of his 2000 Honda Accord, which was parked on the south curb in the 32000 block of Del Obispo Street, near the intersection of Paseo Carolina, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

“The suspect immediately exited the vehicle, brandished the weapon and threatened the victim before fleeing the area in a vehicle,” Hallock said.

The suspect was white, in her early 20s and was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and black leggings.

The getaway car was described as a two-door, emerald blue or green 1998- 2000 model year Honda Civic that was last seen headed north on Camino Capistrano from Del Obispo, Hallock said.

The car ran red lights as the driver fled the scene, according to Hallock.

The victim reported that cash and jewelry were taken from the vehicle, Hallock said.
