Man-Made Wave Pool Proposal In SJC Shot Down By City

A pitch for an artificial wave pool in the city's Northwest Open Space was denied by city officials, the OC Register reported.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Surfers in San Juan Capistrano will have to keep their boards in ocean waters, after a proposal for a man-made wave pool in the city's Northwest Open Space area was shot down by San Juan Capistrano city officials, the OC Register reported.

The city will consider three proposals for the city's Northwest Open Space area, and San Juan Capistrano residents are encouraged to speak up and have their voices heard. The three proposals will be discussed during a public workshop May 17, the OC Register said.

The proposals come from C&C Development, Frontier Real Estate Investments and Capistrano Vineyards, according to a city report. The proposals were chosen based on proposed concepts, compatibility with current uses on the sites and operating experience, according to the report.
