McRibbon Cutting draws a community crowd
Owner Ross Pollard looks like genius with decision to remodel his SJC franchise during the worst part of the Ortega Hwy interchange remodel
The community turned out in large numbers to support the re-opening of the long time McDonald’s location on Del Obispo near the Ortega Highway interchange. Many local movers and shakers were on hand to witness the ribbon cutting including Mayor Derek Reeve, Council members Sam Allevato, Kerry Ferguson and Roy Byrnes. Also on hand were this year’s Grand Marshal of the Swallow’s Day Parade, Ricardo Beas and Senor San Juan, Tom Scott.
The timing of the McDonald’s closure coincided with the shutdown of the Ortega Hwy bridge and the heaviest part of the Ortega interchange construction when many downtown businesses saw a sharp decline in business. Now the McDonalds is newly remodeled in time for the completion of the roadwork and just in time for the Swallow’s Day Parade Season known as Fiesta de las Golondrinas.
