MemorialCare Breast Center at Saddleback Opens New Breast Center in Irvine

Irvine, CA -- MemorialCare Breast Center at Saddleback has officially opened a new center in Irvine. Located on Barranca Parkway, between Culver Blvd and W. Yale Loop, the center is conveniently located and provides easy patient access.

This facility is outfitted with the latest, cutting-edge screening and diagnostic equipment available, according to MemorialCare Breast Centers Medical Director and nationally recognized breast radiologist Gary Levine, M.D. “And, unlike many imaging centers, the new breast center is staffed with nationally recognized radiologists and technologists who are specialists in breast diagnostics and health ensuring that local patients are getting the high quality of care they deserve,” said Dr. Levine.

The Irvine center is the newest complement to MemorialCare Breast Center at Saddleback Memorial in Laguna Hills and joins an existing screening facility in San Clemente. The new Irvine office offers 3D digital tomosynthesis mammography, dedicated breast ultrasound, and DEXA bone density testing for osteoporosis screening.

“The sobering facts are, one in eight women in Orange County will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime,” said Dr. Levine. “Breast cancer accounts for more than 30 percent of all cancers found in women and it is not selective.”

The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease, and while it occurs more often in women who are over the age of 50, younger women are also at risk.

“Making the very best women’s health care convenient and accessible to our community is integrally woven into our mission. Breast screening should be a regular part of a woman’s preventive health regimen,” Dr. Levine said. “We cannot yet reliably prevent breast cancer from occurring. However, if detected early, it is an extremely curable disease, generally requiring only limited surgery.
