Mentally Ill Man Missing In Orange County

Jeffrey Benjamin Waters was last seen around 1:30 p.m. in San Juan Capistrano.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA -- The Orange County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public help to find a 38-year-old man suffering from mental illness who wandered away from his parents at a restaurant in San Juan Capistrano.

Jeffrey Benjamin Waters was eating with his parents about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, when he got up and ran away from the restaurant at Del Obispo Street and Camino Capistrano and headed toward Ortega Highway, the sheriff's department reported.

Waters takes medication on a daily basis and is considered an at-risk missing person.

Waters is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 240 pounds.

He has short, dark brown hair and green eyes.

He last was seen wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt with orange lettering and gray sweatpants, authorities said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call the OCSD at (714) 647-7000 or 911.
