New Bike After Hit & Run For This San Juan Capistrano Boy: OCSD

After a little boy was injured in a hit and run crash that totaled his bike, OCSD gifted this guy with a replacement ride.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — In early June, six-year-old Roque *Last name withheld* became the victim of a hit-and-run while riding his bike on Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

To look at the boy's mangled and broken bike, it was amazing that no one was killed in the crash, witnesses said.

While Roque recovered, there was no hope for the twisted metal frame.

The day of the crash was a day like any other, when Roque and his mom were out riding their bikes.

A car "drove through a red light and hit Roque," OCSD spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.

The bike was totaled and Roque suffered injuries that sent him to the hospital.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the little boy was immediately transferred for treatment, according to Braun.

Still, this boy was left without a bicycle to ride until San Juan Capistrano's finest righted that particular wrong.

It is not yet known if the hit and run driver was found.
