
Barbara “Bobbie” L. Banda, tribal elder of the Juaneño Band of Mission Indians passed away Saturday night. She was 66.
On Monday, April 15, Banda experienced multiple strokes, said son Nathan Banda, a member of the city’s Cultural Heritage Commission.
The family decided Wednesday to take her off life support.

“She will always be remembered and we will continue to honor her legacy,” Banda said. “She is a great prayer warrior and a daughter of Christ.”
A fundraiser is planned 6-11 p.m. Monday at El Adobe's downstairs banquet room, to help the family pay for the expenses. Tacos will be $1 and drinks are happy hour-priced all night.
