Ortega Highway Reduced To One Lane Controlled Traffic Near San Juan Capistrano: CHP
TRAFFIC: A crack in the Ortega Highway near Gibby Road has Caltrans monitoring and CHP flagging lanes, reducing traffic to a single lane.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA โ Another crack in the road on the Ortega Highway (State Route 74) has traffic down to one lane near Gibby Road, according to California Highway Patrol.
The one way controlled traffic is less than half a mile from San Juan Capistrano on Monday, at 12:30 p.m.
"CHP is flagging for repair work due to storm damage repairs," California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada said. "They are down to one lane at a time for that roadwork."

An estimate for the lane closure was not given.
On Sunday morning, California Department of Transportation engineers investigated a crack that was reported on Sunday near Gibby Road.

"(Caltrans) is not closing the road," they reported over Twitter. "There is flagging to keep traffic away from the shoulder area which is where the crack appeared."
Caltrans engineers will continue to monitor the crack and formulate a repair plan,
CHP recommends drivers investigate traffic and evaluate if alternate routes would be beneficial for drive time, as traffic through the area remains heavy.
