Overturned Diesel Truck On 5 Freeway In SJC Hospitalizes One

A truck carrying a tank of diesel rolled over Saturday evening on the California State route 5 in San Juan Capistrano, OCFA reported.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A truck carrying 7,500 galloons of diesel fuel in its tanker overturned on the California State route 5 Saturday, reported the Orange County Fire Authority. The driver was taken to a local trauma center in "critical condition," OCFA said.

The incident occurred Saturday night and resulted in slow-moving traffic on the freeway traveling through San Juan Capistrano. OCFA responded to the scene along with California Highway Patrol San Juan Capistrano authorities. The condition of the driver is not known.

As for the 7,500 gallons of diesel fuel left in the overturned truck's tanker, OCFA's technical rescue truck stabilized the vehicle while the hazardous materials response team performed a "stinger" operation to remove the fuel safely.
