PUBLIC HEARING re: CUSD Proposed 2017-18 Budget:

CUSD earns $485,000.00 per year in transportation fees from individuals.

During the great recession, Governor Brown allowed school districts to drain categorical funds to balance their budgets. In addition to cutting core educational programs like Art, Music, and Science- CUSD cut busing. CUSD has never restored busing for students and payments from individuals generate $485,000 per year in revenues for the District.

CUSD also cut transportation funding for some; but not all, Title I schools in an effort to force students to stay at small underperforming schools.
