Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charities
Over 9,000 people attended the rodeo this year and helped fundraise for Orange County's worthies charities while enjoying the festivities.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Rancho Mission Viejo hosted its 19th Annual Rodeo on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park, and has raised more than $2.5 million to support local San Juan Capistrano charities to date. Beneficiaries include the Shea Therapeutic Riding Center, CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital, San Juan Capistrano Boy’s and Girl’s Club and Justin Sportsmedicine.

providing residents with an opportunity to experience the Orange County of old,” said Tony Moiso, chairman and chief executive officer of Rancho Mission Viejo. “The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo is the perfect example of how the public and Rancho Mission Viejo residents experience a very unique lifestyle on The Ranch, a lifestyle that is truly unmatched in Southern California. Hosting the Rodeo is our way of showing folks that we have a tremendous Western heritage, and one that we feel privileged to share with the community to support local charities.”
With an impressive Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association top 30 lineup competing for a total purse of $180,000, the 19th Annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo produced several elite winners from seven featured rodeo events, including:

- Saddle Bronc Riding – Cort Scheer
- Bareback Riding – Clayton Biglow, Trenten Montero, Tim O’Connell
- Bull Riding – Jordan Wacey Spears
- Steer Wrestling – Tanner Milan
- Tie Down Roping – Haven Meged
- Team Roping – Clay Smith, Jade Corkill
- Break Away Roping – Jackie Crawford
The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo introduced a new addition of Break Away Roping for cowgirls – equivalent to Tie Down Roping for cowboys.
More than 9,000 people attended this year’s Rodeo to celebrate the cowboy way of life, continuing to carry on the tradition of ‘passing the hat’ in support of a sick child or needy friend, with all proceeds from the Rodeo benefiting local charities. For the first time ever, the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo provided the public with the opportunity to purchase tickets online – one third of the tickets sale were online sales.

The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo raised more than $2.5 million in total proceeds throughout its history for San Juan Capistrano charities – making it one of the most successful philanthropic events for Rancho Mission Viejo.
The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo also featured nearly 50 vendors, food trucks and more – providing the public with a distinctly unique opportunity to try on Western-themed apparel and enjoy gourmet food.
