As a reminder, CUSD schools and facilities will be closed tomorrow, March 16 through April 3, 2020.

District leadership has worked through the weekend to evaluate and draft plans to implement the Governor’s Executive Order, which was signed Friday evening. The Executive Order provides that even if schools close temporarily because of COVID-19, school districts must:

  • Continue delivering high-quality educational opportunities to students to the extent feasible through, among other options, distance learning and/or independent study
  • Safely provide school meals through the Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option, consistent with the requirements of the California Department of Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture
  • To the extent practicable, arrange for supervision for students during ordinary school hours
  • Continue to pay employees

The Executive Order requires that we look at all of our plans within the context of the new mandates of the Governor’s office. We will be sharing more information later this week.
